History

In the fall of 1960, a group of residents of Carrollton, now New Carrollton, formed the "Carrollton Players" to support the theatre arts in northern Prince George's County. The name was changed to Prince George's Little Theatre in 1962 to reflect the broader area and incorporated in 1974. Productions were staged at various locations until 1977 when PGLT began to perform at the Publick Playhouse in Cheverly, Maryland.

Since 2006 PGLT has performed at the Bowie Playhouse (owned and operated by the City of Bowie) in the beautifully wooded surroundings of White Marsh Park in Bowie on Route 3. The Playhouse was expanded and renovated in 2008 and seats 150.

PGLT produces three shows a year, a mix of comedies, dramas and musicals. Our members do everything from directing and acting to stage managing or publicity. Membership is open to anyone who is interested in the theatre arts. PGLT is always looking for volunteers to join in the fun!

The Bowie Playhouse is open year 'round, and is also home to 2nd Star Productions and Bowie Community Theatre. There is plenty of free parking. Come visit us at White Marsh Park in Bowie and let us entertain you!

PGLT has been an active participant in the Ruby Griffith Awards, presented by the British Players, and in 2010, became a full member in the Washington Area Theater Community Honors (WATCH).
